Ceiling fan has no ground wire. Also have a ground rod installed outside of your house. Depending on the age of the home and if the home is older then it may be that many other circuits do not have a ground wire as well. If you dont have a wire coming in to hook your ground to what you do is you take your ground wire which is either a solid copper or a green wire youll take that ground wire and you wrap it. Remove one of the long screws that holds the fixture in place. You can take one of two approaches when installing a ceiling fan on a branch circuit that has no ground wire. The approach recommended by most professional electricians is to replace the standard.
The first solution which is the better one but may turn out to be costly is to have your home rewired replacing all of the wiring with romex wires that include a ground wire. Step 4 run your ground wire from the light conduit box to the nearest copper water pipe. Lastly connect the blue wires together or the blue wire to the black wire for lights. Last and least if theres no screw present in the box to connect a ground wire and no place to put a screw heres a workaround. Find the new mounting strap provided. Connect the white wires neutral wires from your fan and ceiling together. If your light does not have a black wire due to its age then attach the black electrical wire to the gold screw on the fixture.
For ceiling fans without lights follow the same step.
