When in doubt pull the switch and look for that pair of travelers. If you find the light switch wont turn off immediately after youve installed it its probably because you wired it wrong but if the switch has been working and suddenly you find the light stays on when the switch is off the switch is malfunctioning.

3 way switch wont turn off. Hook the red and white wires from the 3 wire cable to the other 2 screws on the switch doesnt matter which way. Replaced 3 way switch lights wont go off.
